GLP supplies a full range of ceramic balls and rings together with high alumina media used as distribution, support and hold down for catalysts, adsorbents and molecular. Furthermore, we keep ceramics in all siz-es in stock at our warehouse facilities in Melbourne GLP for emergency requirements. GLP Ceramic Packings and Supports are purpose fabricated form a specially formulated silica alumina material and are fired under very strictly controlled conditions ensuring the following properties:
- High temperature resistance
- High Fracture strength and resistance to fracture
- Resistance to corrosion and acids
Ceramic Balls
Ceramic support balls used in catalytic reactors have a critical impact on catalyst activity, selectivity and ease of catalyst unloading. The support can impact an acidic or basic environment for the active catalyst component.
GLP standard application ceramic balls are produced from a specially formulated silica / alumina material and fired under strict controlled conditions ensuring the following properties:
- High Temperature Resistance
- High Thermal Shock Resistance
- Uniformed roundness to minimize pressure drop
- High Crushing Strength
High Alumina Balls
GLP Engineering's Calcined Alumina Balls are purpose fabricated from a specially formulated high alumina material and processed to ensure the following properties:
- High crush resistance
- High temperature resistance
- Thermal shock resistance
- Low pressure drop
- Free from catalyst poisons
- Very low silica content
These balls are of 99.5% alumina and suited to high temperature and steam applications where leachable silica can poison the catalyst bed, i.e.:
- Methanol and Hydrogen production
- Naphtha reforming
- Isomerisation
- Alkyations using HF at high temperatures
- Ammonia production
